A Little Girl Like Me

Dear Lord, I saw a story last night on the news
About a baby who’d been beaten and abused
Her eyes were filled with tears, her face was black and blue
She was just a little girl like me

There are holes up in the ozone, acid in the rain
Kids out on the corner selling crack cocaine
Homeless people sleeping in the doorways down on Main
Some of them are little girls like me

I’m not big, I’m not strong
But I was thinking maybe
You could find a way to use
These two small hands you gave me

If a single candle can chase away the dark
And if a raging fire begins with just a spark
Maybe you can change the world with the love in just one heart
Lord could you use a little girl like me?

I’m not big, I’m not strong
But I was thinking maybe
You could find a way to use
These two small hands you gave me

Lord could you use a little girl like me?
